If I haven't written a new blog post in a while, it's because I've been flat out giving presentations and bookstore signings! Things are going very, very well. I'm richly rewarded while getting to spread Frances Perkins' amazing story and seeing how absorbed and inspired my audiences have all been.
First was a slide show, talk, reading, sales and signings at the Camden Public Library attended by about 35 people in early June.
On June 14 we had a capacity crowd at the Frances Perkins Center hosted the book launch party in the wonderful, spacious, atmospheric restored barn attached to the Brick House, Frances's home, in Newcastle, Maine. The party started with catered appetizers and wine, and included a phenomenal introduction the center's Executive Director, Giovanna Lockhart, gave me, and ended with champagne and a sheet cake.
The next day was my first bookstore signing in Damariscotta at Sherman's Maine Coast Books, which also went great, and I was amazed how many people chose to also buy my children's picture book!! The next signing was at Sherman's Rockland, and this Saturday, July 27, I sign at their Boothbay Harbor store from 1 - 3:00.
Last Thursday John and I and my visiting son and two grandsons were treated to dinner and warm hospitality before my presentation, by invitation of the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club (wonderful, warm, enthusiastic people).
August 1 I start the day with a 10 AM presentation at Skidompha Public Library in Damariscotta as part of their "Chats With Champions" popular long running program.
Also very exciting, I've accepted an invitation to The Community Church of Boston where Frances herself spoke in the 1950s. That will be October 20. I'm so pleased by getting to sing her praises in the city in which she was born in 1880.
I continue to get good reviews, and would love a little one at any time from YOU! They're easy to leave online at GoodReads.com, Readers'Favorites.com or Amazon, and don't have to be long or analytical. All feed back is welcome. Thanks for being one of my supporters.
Call or email me any time.
